Those dubplate specials were recorded while Prince Jammy was making his name with his musical productions and soundsystem in the mid 80’s and later King Jammy was trying to overthrow rivalry soundsystems with those ‘Super Power’ dubplate specials.
Those anthems were played against Black Scorpio, Killamanjaro, Downbeat, African Symbol and many soundsystems who try to test Jammys Super Power, at various sound clashes. Once you hear the songs, you will simply experience the atmosphere of those dancehall venues and encounter a profound culture of Jamaican music.
The releases feature killer tunes by regular artists such as Pad Anthony, Little John, Anthony Malvo, Johnny Osbourne and Thiller U who recorded their songs at King Jammys Recording Studio. As well as unreleased dubplate recordings by Junior Reid and US northern soul group, Chilites. Dub Store Records proudly presents and an exclusive dubplate selection from the Jammys valut.
The special recordings simply clarify why Jammy is called ‘KING’… |
